Royal Road Raids: Advice/Feedback needed! Tanks speak up please!
« on: February 03, 2019, 04:45:31 pm »
Hi guys,
as the title says, I'm seeking advice on the Royal Road Raids, namely Royal Road and Imperium Arma (1 and 2). No flaming, no hate, no insults please, I'm looking for ideas of how to do this better, not how cool some wannabe pros speak up. So please. Constructive ideas, nothing else pls.

I've recently been using Sirius as tank but found it quite difficult to keep the bosses on me, especially the final boss on RR, as well as the gunner and Joshua on IA. Despite constant spinning and casting the field, I sometimes lost the aggro of the mob within seconds - and this cant be how its supposed to be, since that renders Sirius more or less useless.
I've also been told that on IA, some tank players prefer Rada, which I could also use, I just didnt try yet because I'm not sure she would really be much better, given that her best skill has quite some cooldown and if shes not casting it, she rather tends to die fast - at least thats my impression, but given I havent used her in a while, maybe there was some change to her since then.

I also noticed that if I'm staying quite close to the boss, at around half the range of the spin, the aggro seems to be easier to keep. But this goes as a disadvantage for Lisa and close range dps, so its not an optimal solution. I'd like to know how you other tanks get to solve this problem, I tried to throw in a few aoe heals from Valeria to keep them alive, which worked partly.

Thanks in advance if you take some time to note down a few suggestions or ideas, anything that helped making this rarely wanted job more easy!

Ehm. A bit more details please. How "just needs def"? I have absolutely NO TROUBLE tanking this thing. The problem is keeping it on me to stop them from running off to kill the dps! And that also was the question, so do me a favor and read properly next time, in case you think I'd die from those things!
If youre implying that more def makes the mob staying on me for a longer time, then explain please.

I don't know if you know about this or not, but an update or two ago a nifty feature was added to bosses that shows how much dps and aggro characters have against them. It's something like a plus sign on the health bar near what type of creature it is.

In your case, I'd go into a bounty hunter mission with your tank and best dpser and test it on the boss. You can see how much aggro your tank and dps are creating for themselves and see if Sirius is doing enough to keep up with your dps. If not try Rada. When I use her skills that give her aggro automatically for 30 seconds, she can pretty much just run around or do nothing while keeping any monsters' attention.

I know BH isn't RR but it's at least a "safe" way to test yourself. You could also do it with friends using dps to see how your tank stacks up against multiple dpsers.

Anyway, that feature was something quite helpful that I wish was on vesps but sadly it's only available on actual boss type monsters.

I got no problem using 2 Dooms + Emilia, 2 Crusader Darias + Emilia, Tank + 2 Rubi, Tank + 2 Joshua

If you really need a tank, then Sirius or Rada is fine. With Rada, just use personal buff, then jump to the boss using her 1st skill, then use 4th to aggro and heal yourself, then use 2nd for more aggro. Just use those 3 skills. Rada's 2nd and 3rd skill can inflict provoking aura for 35 seconds. The provoking area is 15 meters. Wide enough to gather mobs.

Rada on +7 santo leather 3dr 3s can survive. Yes, tanks prefer Rada because she can jump to a safe spot and her aggro is better than Sirius. We use Rada as tank on daily Royal Road squad missions too. I use Rada on all raids when I am asked to tank.

In the last boss of RR single, make sure you are on top of the stairs. Don't let the boss move to the grass or he will kill you with one shot.

Single Raid, Imperium Arma

Rada is better here, because she can jump to the safe spot, especially Dorr skills hit hard. With boss Joshua, if you can't use Emilia's magic barrier, just use High Anti Magic Potion. Joshua summons the witchcraft troops quite often and you can't hit Joshua when she summons them. When I am with Doom, I usually spacebar them. With Dorr, if you cannot use Ignore Harm of Emilia, then use High Abnormal Resistance Potion.

The gunner in Imperium Arma singles, you mean the 1st boss. Make sure to keep him inside his white circle or he will kill you with few hits.

To clarify: this is all about the SQUAD missions, not the solo ones.
Solo I've got no problem at all, its about the group missions where some bosses tend to ignore Sirius' Taunts to wreak havoc on the dps.

About Sirius: So far, mine is pretty sturdy (Santo+7, chipped/rumin'ed), so staying alive really isn't an issue, but I'm getting the feeling that the spin/field has to be timed very well to ensure keeping the aggro rather than spamming it and hoping for the best.

Thanks, guys! This gave me quite an insight about Rada possibly being better, at least for IA. I keep thinking about Joshua, which might pose a threat to Sirius (and all others) if she goes wild and runs out of the circle. Rada is a bit more mobile thanks to the jump. What ET/Buffer do you use on her? I remember Valeria doing somewhat okay, but it wasnt perfect, but as said, it had been months since i used the staff-rotating giant fist girl. Lack of RM might hurt, though, since that cooldown of Rada's skill is quite long.
Anis... could work, at least on the solos, she works perfectly well with C.Daria. Yet paired up with Sirius, I dont really trust her. Dunno if that works better with Rada, but I somewhat doubt that.
Emi... only if NOTHING else works. Trust in that girl is close to zero, and tbh, I've got better stuff to do than switching between rod and rosario all the time.
Arbitrator... worked for a while, also on Castilla Hard (with Rada), but its tricky cuz on IA, Joshuas normal hits have such a big range. Dunno if she can get close enough.
Insights please? How do you do that, since last spot is usually taken with Lisa (at least on mine).
